Joomchi, is a 500-year old Korean papermaking technique - using layers of mulberry paper.  Jiyoung Chung the author of 'Joomchi & Beyond.' Jiyoung likens the paper-bonding process as "capturing the whispers of women’s' stories' in the layering of paper’ and that "through hardships,  we become stronger, just as the paper does.” 

Joomchi can be painted, stitched and may include fibers. 

There is a $5.00 materials fee for mulberry paper payable to the instructor


MARGO is an artist, designer, and author. You can see her work at the May River Gallery in Bluffton, SC. She enjoys Felting, dyeing, joomchi, free-form knitting/crochet, beading, painting, botanical printing - Always experimenting, always learning.  www.hermajestymargo.blogspot.com
