Taste of...Beginning Tapestry Weaving

Never woven before? No problem! This class is for the complete novice and will allow to you learn a bit about one type of weaving:  tapestry weaving! Wendy Avery will show you how to use a cardboard loom to create a small decorative weaving. This little loom has no device to make a shed, so you will be weaving in and out with a plastic needle. We will warp the loom and learn some basic weaving options, including using half-hitches to fasten the beginning of your weaving, and then play with color while learning some weaving techniques including soutache. You may bring your own small tapestry loom if it is in good repair, (please talk to Wendy ahead of time if you are doing that).  Things to bring: small amounts of worsted to heavy worsted yarn from your stash to weave with, scissors, a ruler.  Wendy will provide cardboard looms (including an extra for you to take home), shed sticks (popsicles sticks), cardboard looms, and large eye plastic needles.  $30 members, $40 nonmembers. Materials fee: $5.00 payable to Wendy at class. Bring a snack and a beverage. Location: upstairs at Oatland, location TBA.    If you have difficulty registering please email us at info@fiberguildsav.com.
