A Taste of Needle Felting an Adorable Bunny
from $50.00

This five hour class introduces makers to the basics of needle felting while creating an adorable bunny. Makers will finish the class ready for more advanced needle felting techniques. This class does not use an armature.

Needle felting is a form of fiber art in which a very sharp, barbed, needle is used to sculpt animal fiber into various shapes. This needle sculpting process causes the fibers to intertwine into what is commonly known as felt.

Barbara Dunn has never met a fiber she doesn’t love. She has been needle felting for about five years focusing on cute little critters, woodland fairies and jewelry. She especially enjoys mixed media needle felting also known as “painting with wool.” Her most favorite needle felted creations start life as one thing and end as something else. There are no mistakes in needle felting! Barbara also enjoys processing her own fiber, dyeing. spinning art yarn, wet felting, knitting, crocheting and weaving. Most recently she has been dyeing fiber with Kool Aid.

Important: The needles used in needle felting are very sharp and barbed. Makers taking this class need to accept that they are highly likely to stab themselves a few times while learning the felting process. Highly skilled needle felters still stab themselves, often frequently. Needle felting finger tip protectors (usually thumb and index) are sometimes available from local craft stores. Barb will bring some extra finger protectors, however, students are encouraged to order from Amazon if not found locally. Seasoned needle felters rarely use finger protectors since they cut down on the tactile finesse needed to sculpt the fiber. Bring a bag lunch and water. This class is limited to 8 students.

Materials cost: $10.00 paid to instructor at time of class.
