A Taste of Learning to Knit 1
This class is for first time knitters and for those that need to brush up
on basic skills. The morning will be spent learning about different types
of yarns and fiber content. Students will learn how to choose the best
yarn for their projects and how to read the information on the yarn
labels to determine needle size and proper gauge. The class will focus
on the long tail method of cast on. Learn and practice the knit stitch.
After a break for lunch student return to learn and practice the Purl
Stitch. Learn how to combine these two stitches that make up the
backbone of knitting! This class focuses on one on one instruction and
is designed as a foundation to many years of knitting beautiful projects.
Betsy Rickenbacker started knitting when she was 7 years old and in the
Brownies. In high school, she made money knitting miniskirts and
selling them to her classmates. Fast forward after many years of
knitting Fisherman Sweaters, hats and shawls for family and friends,
Betsy now works and teaches knitting at a local yarn store.
This class is intended to be the foundation for a series of beginning to

bring a bag lunch.
