Knotting is another way to make clothing, accessories, home decor, and art with fiber. A strong fiber medium with many origins (including 13th century Arab countries and early sailors out at sea), knotting has seen recent trends (remember the 1970s plant hangers and the revival of macrame during the pandemic?), knotted fiber art goes beyond what most of us see and know. In this class you will learn the techniques to make two small projects with basic knots. The cool part is that you need not be an expert to create beautiful décor pieces for your home. Roberta Lawrence will teach you basic knots and pique your curiosity to seek out more (from knots used in fly-fishing, rock-climbing and caving, sailing, lumberjack work, trucking, cowboys, circuses, and anywhere your curiosity drives you) to determine the content of your future projects.
