Taste of...Making Textile Baskets
Taste of...Making Textile Baskets
Instructor Celia Pray will teach you to use textile waste and upcyce what may normally be thrown away, to make lovely coiled baskets. Use fabrics from your stash, if you’re a quilter, or use fabrics from the thrift shop like shirts, ties, and even jeans which will then be cut into strips. The core of the basket coil will be upcycled plastic bags like bread bags, onion bags, old rope or baling twine. The idea is about saving the landfill while creating something lovely! Threads for stitching can again be what you have at home such as wool, crochet thread, hemp or raffia. Please bring: fabric scraps, stitching thread, scissors, a large eye needle, and a ruler. You can also bring core materials : plastic bags, onion bags, and baling twine. Celia will bring core materials, fabric, and crochet thread. Bring lunch and a beverage. Location: upstairs at Oatland Island. 8 participants max.
