Taste of… Needle Felting a Valais Black Nose Sheep
Barbara Dunn
Sun. February 27, 10:30am-1pm - Studio
$30 members/ $40 non-members
Makers will be introduced to the basics of needle felting, a form of fiber art in which a very sharp, barbed, needle is used to mat the fiber by repeatedly poking fluffy wool or other animal fibers into various felted, sculpted shapes. As the needles used in needle felting are very sharp and barbed, makers need to accept that they are highly likely to stab themselves a few times while learning the felting process.
You can find needle felting finger tip protectors at local craft stores or Amazon, but be aware that they don’t protect the entire hand and can cut down on the finesse needed to sculpt the fiber.
Materials fee of $10.00 is payable to Barbara on the day of class.
Barbara has been needle felting for about five years focusing on cute little critters, woodland fairies and jewelry. She especially enjoys mixed media needle felting. Her most favorite needle felted creations started life as one thing and ending as something else. There are no mistakes in needle felting! Barbara also enjoys wet felting, knitting, crocheting and is learning to weave.
