Field Trip to Spirit Fiberworks Mill paid members only

The fiber Guild is excited to offer a great opportunity to see where and how our Oatland Fiber
is processed.
Spirit Fiber Works, located in Cleveland, Georgia, is one the few fiber processing mills that offer classes and educational programs to the community. For the last three years, the Guild has sent our fleece to Spirit Fiber Works for processing. This year, you can visit the mill and take part in the process. Nicole will lead us on the journey turning our raw fiber to beautiful roving that we spin and dye into yarns. You will learn about the different varieties of sheep and understand the qualities of their fleece. This is a hands-on experience of processing the fleece by washing, and utilizing the mill process. Afterwards, we will explore the many options of turning the roving into yarn, felt and fabric. Bring wheels, ideas and ideas for projects. There is plenty of time to experiment and ask questions. There will be a materials cost depending on student’s choices. Visit https://spiritfiberworks.com.
This workshop is 8 hours, divided into 2 days to allow travel to and from Savannah. Transportation and accommodations are student’s responsibility. Lists of those participating will be provided in order to share rides and accommodations.
